Recent federal stimulus money includes a requirement that the state must invest more than $1 billion in higher education. Governor Abbott has petitioned the feds to provide Texas with a waiver of the requirement. Higher Ed advocates should let their voices be heard that those dedicated funds should be used as they are intended. Call the Governor’s Office at (512) 463-1782, as well as your Texas legislators and congresspersons to oppose that waiver.
