Guns on Campus Bill Update
As reported previously, HB 1236 allows public universities to opt out of the guns on campus legislation passed four years ago (private colleges were allowed that option originally). Invited by the author of the bill, Representative Goodwin, TACT testified earlier this month to the House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety, but it was met by much opposition.
Today, Representative Goodwin’s office told TACT that they don't think the bill is going anywhere. This is mainly due to the overwhelming opposition and that there is no Senate companion.
