Guns on Campus - New Bill Filed
Rep. Vikki Goodwin, D-Austin, filed HB 1236 which would permit public institutions to opt out of the statute requiring lawful guns on campus, as is permitted among private institutions. It has been referred to the House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, Democrat Alfonso Nevarez, chair. Goodwin’s office proactively contacted TACT to understand our past participation on this issue and we are working with her office to communicate our views and extensive research.
