What is the TACT Government Relations Fund?

Updated: Dec 2, 2018

With elections behind us, the Texas Legislature is gearing up for January.  Jockeying for House Speaker, moving offices according to seniority, pre-filing legislation, hiring new staff…….much occurs between now and the swearing in. TACT, too, is preparing to influence policy for the benefit of faculty and all of Texas higher education.  One of those traditions is this annual call for contributions to the James M. Puckett Government Relations Fund.  Jim was a TACT President who believed fervently in our legislative mission and made numerous commutes from Kingsville to tell our story to legislators.  The monies raised are directly used for advocacy – defraying costs to volunteers, supporting the Legislator of the Year program, speakers fees, and research costs. TACT dues have not increased for many, many years in order to make faculty participation accessible.   Your voluntary contribution of $50, $75 or $100 will go far in helping us accomplish our policy goals.  You may contribute on-line through the website or send a check to TACT, 801 S. Highway 183, Leander, TX  78641. Thank you for what you continue to do to help us reverse the trend of minimizing state support for higher education.
